    Curriculum Content

In the dual Bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering/Automation Technology ETAT, the fundamentals of Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, and Automation Technology are taught.

The subsequent specialization ETAT-IE covers the implementation of industrial requirements and procedures, from electronic devices to three-phase distribution systems, across the product phases of design, manufacturing, maintenance, and service.

For this purpose, in-depth practical training is provided in analog/digital circuit technology and signal processing, microcomputing and programming, as well as in device/system design using industrial CAD tools, considering the standards for safety and EMC, and industrial manufacturability. In the age of IoT, the planning and acceptance of network infrastructure to ensure communication is another key focus.

Aspects of the product development process such as market analysis, product cost planning, requirements specification contents, and their implementation through team-oriented ISO900x-compliant project management, as well as quality management methods, e.g., using FMEA or Six Sigma, are also taught.

The internships associated with the study program in electronics, electrical engineering, network technology, programming of embedded systems, and switchgear construction deepen the theoretically acquired knowledge through concrete technical examples, as well as the application of the industrial CAD toolchain (including AutoCAD, PSpice, Altium, LabVIEW, Eclipse, EPLAN, SIMARIS, Wireshark) and measurement technology. The knowledge gained from switchgear construction provides an excellent foundation for a career as an electrical specialist.

In the 12-week practical phases following the 12-week theoretical phases, students learn and apply company-specific processes and CAD tools for the design/project planning, manufacturing, and maintenance of devices/systems at the practical partners' companies.

Graduates of the ETAT-IE specialization are prepared for industrial requirements, i.e., the technical aspects of realizing and maintaining competitive, network-capable, CE-compliant devices/systems, as well as the necessary internal and external ISO900x-compliant process and quality management.
